USE OF COLLECTED PERSONAL DATA

The comments

When you leave a comment on our website, the data entered in the comment form, as well as your IP address and your browser’s user agent, are collected to help us detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also known as a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available here: https://automatic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible next to your comment.

The contact form

When you use the contact forms on our website, your personal data will be stored so that we can process your message, for a maximum period of 5 years. Upon request, we can delete all traces of your message.

The cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you will be given the option to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is solely for your convenience, so you won’t have to re-enter this information if you leave another comment later. These cookies expire after one year.

If you have an account and log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be created to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It does not contain any personal data and will be automatically deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will set a number of cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. A login cookie lasts for two days, while a display preference cookie lasts for one year. If you check “Remember Me,” your login cookie will be stored for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookie will be deleted.

A cookie is a small piece of data that does not identify users but is used to record information about their browsing activity on the site. You can configure your browser settings to be notified when cookies are used and, if desired, to block them, as described on the CNIL website: www.cnil.fr.

Embedded content from other sites

The articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves in the same way as if the visitor were visiting that other site directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and track your interactions with this embedded content if you have an account logged in on their website.

Usage and Sharing of Your Personal Data

We do not share data from our website, except with Google Analytics, as mentioned in the section above.

HOW LONG WE STORE YOUR DATA

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve subsequent comments instead of holding them in the moderation queue.

For users who register on our site (where available), we also store the personal data they provide in their profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.

Personal data submitted through our contact forms is stored for a maximum of 5 years. Upon request, we can delete all traces of your message.

YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING YOUR DATA

If you have an account or have left comments on the site, you can request a file containing all the personal data we hold about you, including the data you have provided to us. You can also request that your personal data be deleted. This does not apply to data stored for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

SHARING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Visitor comments can be moderated using an automated spam detection service.
